Ive searched on the forums but cant seem to find a good write up or video.

Ive limbed alot of trees but never have cut a big one down just yet. I know there is alot of techniques but i would like to know the best way and the safest.

Invest in a lot of felling wedges. You can never have too many. A small 2# sledge is good too.

This may give you a good idea of what that notch you are cutting is actually doing. Nice video of hinges at work. Start real small and work up. Look up too.

You can only learn so much from a video. Get a book as well. The best book there is, "The Fundamentals of General Tree Work" by G.F. Beranek.

Then learn by doing, that's about 90% of it. And you never stop learning. That's when you get squashed.
