Yeah, so I thought I would be smart and buy the 8# sledge with the oversized hole in it for that collar around the fiberglass handle that adds an extra layer of protection. Guess what? I will be darned if I can find a replacement for that stupid 8# Sledge head now. I would even settle for an Ash or Hickory handle. Incidentally I broke both the splitting maul with FG handle and sledge on the same day working on White Ash. Guess I better go buy a lathe and save a piece of that Ash.

The one replacement fiberglass handle I installed came with epoxy and instruction to add bebes to the epoxy to fill the gap. You could try it.
 
Ive broken 6 or 7 rakes and 3 or 4 mauls this year.

I dont swing the maul wrong , well one of the breaks was a long swing.. The other 2 were solid square hits, the shaft was just the weakest link. Amen to destroying hand tools.

Ive broken 2 or 3 pairs of cheap hand pruners as well.
