The FOP doesn't fit so well on Stihl chains, although I tried it a long time ago. Does the Husky guage work for Stihl? It looks like it would. May have to drop by Lowe's and pick one up.

They do, at least on the "yellow" RS/RM variants - not sure about the "green" ones.

It is indeed "green" chain - and normal raker giudes are useless on them.

So what do you do when the chain gets about half worn, just throw it away? I've had these chains before but never kept them long enough to worry about this, I just sold the saws with this kinda chain on them. When I ordered this new chain I thought I was getting the Husqvarna factory replacement for my 362XP...I don't think the green chain came out on it.

If I get a saw with the safety chain on it, I just grind off what I don't want... Not ideal, but serviceable at least...

If we are talking about Oregon "Vanguard" 72V, which has the bent-over rakers, Bailey's lists the Husqvarna Filing Kit for 3/8" Pitch Chainsaw Chain for it.

I have both 72V and the Husky 3/8 roller guide (as of this week) and recently got the two together. Indeed, you can apply the raker guide and file the rakers. Of course it is new chain so it didn't take much off, and what it did, it did across a lot more area than a standard raker.

I also have a new Granberg File-n-Joint, so in the future, I'll probably file only one with the Husky guide, and then use it to set up the Granberg.

This is the kind of chips 72V throws. As Modified Mark said, it is useful chain and it is best if you can use a power sharpener to set the rakers. Since I don't have a power sharpener (yet), I'll be using my File-n-Joint.

I wouldn't have sought 72V out, but it came in a combo with a nice Oregon 20" bar at a price that made the chain pretty much free, especially since I had a $10 coupon.

I think mine says "H80-72" It came in a Husqvarna box. I guess the Bailey's kit would work on this chain...

Wonder why Bailey's no longer lists the FOP in .325 pitch? I have one, but noticed today they really don't seem to be available any longer....

Here's the link.

I think they remove out of stock items from their index/search engine. Sometimes they come back. Sometimes they don't.
