Well, after a couple of set backs, I finally got the new Dolmar 5100s last weekend :biggrinbounce2:
Thanks to all of you who answered my :newbie: post about what saw to buy and to those who posted other information here. After all the reading, I still can't believe that I don't have an MS361 in the garage
I ended up going with a new Dolmar PS5100s with an 18" bar and 3/8 .050 chain. When I ordered the saw I also picked up a loop of Oregon 64LGX chain. This will end up being the middle saw; thanks to CU, I'm on my way to a three saw plan (which I'm sure will not stop at three). I also have a Poulan 2075C, which will get a 12" bar and do limbing and trimming until it dies. Don't know what's in line for the big one, but I'm sure I'll get good advice from all of you when the time comes.
I haven't had a chance to put the 5100 through its paces yet. So far I just bucked up some maple that I had laying in the yard; nothing big, only up to about 8" - 10". Hopefully I can give it a real run this weekend.
So far, I don't have a bad thing to say about the saw. Filled her with gas and oil, started on the third or fourth pull. Runs and cuts pretty quick, especially with the new, sharp chain. Re-starts are easy; one short pull and shes up and running again. It seems well balanced with the 18" bar and is surprisingly light.
I'll post more once I've had a chance to cut some more.
