Will Climbing and CT Care posts be easier to track if each has its own forum?

  • No, it would be too hard to separate them.

Looking at the page below, I see 16 threads specifically about Climbing, and 24 about Commercial Tree Care. Only a few threads involve both.

For ease of tracking discussions through the large number of posts (serious and otherwise) here, why not split Commerical Tree Care and Climbing into separate forums?

Look at the list below; you will see the threads are distinctly different, and the split is about even.
So why not?

I don't know if splitting them is needed Guy, For instance I was going to ask a question about a paticular technique in a tree with a tophandle saw, now would that go in chainsaw, doubtful cause not everyone climbs that browses that forum, does it go in climbing, there are those that disagree because there is a chainsaw forum. The site has enough breakdowns I think.

Climbing IS commercial tree care, unless its rec. climbing. Even removals can affect or reveal what is going on with surrounding trees. I'd hate to think of more guys thinking good climbers are good arborists. Like I did for so many years as a work order arborist.

I agree with Dan, about the residential tree care forum. Some of the best tree care "discussions" have been there. Guy and Maas haven't gone at it for a while, could someone poke them with a stick:p .

Duh, none really, I messed up.
Thanks TreeCo, Residential is currently a nomans land, all posts there are really about Commercial Tree Care, whether or not they are started by a "Resident" tree owner or not.
CTCAC is a deluge imo too easy to lose track of stuff.

maybe

i find that having them lumped together is handy as i dont have to browse multiple forums and as im still at the bottom of the ladder i can get it all in one place

haivng said that 2 seperate forums would be handy, more directed and easier to find that topic again

For this reason I'm going to post any questions about actual tree care on Residential. If others do the same the threads won't get lost in gear and business issues so easily. Does that make sense?

I think Rocky has a good point... I see him and a few others on other forums on the rare occasions that I go there.... So I probably would miss some good stuff if the threads split... Yrt I too get a little tired of sifting through the oile looking for diamonds....
So maybe a better pole would be
Are you here to:
1) Learn and share valuable job related information
or
2) Have a good tme communing with tree guys and get a few laughs as you pop a few cold ones after work...
Once that was determined aybe we could have a serious forum and a social forum... though probably a lot to miss there too.
I Am sure it'll work out though..

Personally, the internet and this site in particular has profoundly changed my life and carreer. I Am grateful for this tremendous blessing....
So thanks,
D
