A similar(I think better) unit can be easily built with a full floating axle and a bit of metal. Send a message and I'll tell you how. I produced a few thousand bundles last year.

Yup already drew up the plans to build one. I'll start as soon as I'm finished with the conveyor.

I built mine in a day. Later added a hydraulic motor. Could use any kind of motor really. I just had the hydraulics around and I wanted it "friction" powered for safety. It's made tens of thousands of bundles in the last three years, no serious problems with it. Only part of the machine that was a challenge was the tensioning adjustment. It was difficult to keep it from "self adjusting" as the speed increased. It's all working fine now.

Wellllllllll Now...Aren't you the same fella' that paid good money for info on starting your own firewood business? Didn't you draw up plans for a bundle wrapper already?
I'll click a few digipics. I'll PM em' to you. That way they cannot be reposted...right? I want to protect my interests.

Dave I'd like to see those pics when you are done with them. If JP blows any more smoke he's risking a chimney fire!

Dan

I don't mind sharing. This sounds ungrateful to me. So, why would I want to share me years of knowledge with an ungrateful lout like you?

Jp? you palletize wood as well dont you? Any suggestions on a rack to set the pallet in for stacking and banding?

I do, and yes. Any sort of "turntable" setup is best. Fewer steps involved, the better for any process. A smart man should be able to improvise.

Where can I find these things?

Team, I did a search for "Onion" bags in my area of the country. Onions are a big crop out here. Firewood is very hard to get into a bag...like stuffing a cat in a bag, just ain't happening without a fight. BUT!, Chimnea's are very popular in many areas. Here they are I don't know about your hometown. Short(six inch or so) and small split wood in a bag is rather easy to do. Folks that have the little clay burners on their decks love the small wood and your attention to their needs. They will pay a premium price to be pampered.

i wrap a 30 inch around bundle with pallet wrap. I also put a flyr in the bundle. My machine is simple. 3 2 foot pieces of rebar nailed 3 inches apart. I stack the wood on the rebar until it is big enough then wrap it. Me and a helper wrap 50 -60 bundles n hour.

I bought a Hudson Bundler so I disided I wanted another one so my friend said he would build me one if I bought the Materal it cost me the same as the one I bought. I bought another one but electric it was to fast so I took the electric motor off and put a hand crank. A lot off time if you have a lot of time with know thing to do building one would be the way to go. I don't have time so I buy needed equipment

Several years ago I saw a burlap-type product that looked like it would work very well for wrapping firewood bundles. As I recall it was thin and kind of streachy. A few wraps and staples in the end looks like it would work well and be enviro-friendly as opposed to plastic wrap. Anybody ever come across something like this? I have not been able to locate a source.
