Yet another firewood saw thread! I'm looking to pick up a used firewood saw. I think I know what I want. Someone convince me to get something other than a 5100!:D I'll probably only cut a few cords per year, more if a hurricane blows through. Anyone have a lead on a saw for sale?

I think you would be able to find a good used Stihl in that area, considering the factory is around the corner from you.
Out of all my saws,I pick up the 028 Super the most. It's a great all around firewood saw in my book.
I've put up about 16-17 cords already this year and I'd say it has done probably 70% of the work.
I have an old Husky 480CD for the larger stuff.
Try and get a Super instead of a woodboss,A little larger displacement.

Yeah, you'd think that but I haven't found it to be the case. I mean, they're not selling them out of the back of the factory, and this isn't exactly a logging community. So there are not a lot of folks promoting the pro saws. Lots of wildthingies for sale I'm sure. Gas fireplaces rule around my area.

Check that 025 out.

I believe I would look at that 025 Scooterbum found. good saw and in your back door. I'd be on it if my son was still stationed in Norfolk.

It's a good saw and takes well to a muffler mod.Fun to run.
There was also an o66 in there but that might be a little too much.

...
I have run and maintained 250s enough to repectfully disagree - they cut slow, vibrates a lot, and the air filter get dirty pretty fast. They also have a overwhelming feel and look of cheap plastic...:hmm3grin2orange:

....but they do what they are intended to do.

He would probably try to sell me a 361. Anyway, I hear those things are slow.

If he's got anymore 55s laying around I will take one though!

Use the PP260 that you found with a WoodsmanPro 30LP chain until you find that good deal on the saw that you really want .

Trying to sell that thing too.:D

RB, I haven't been to Hampton since late 80's. Is it still growing? it was a mad house then late 80's compared to when i went to school there at Spratley Jr in the 70's. Wouldn't mind taking a vacation there and fishing a couple of the piers again.
