Hey guys, need an opinion if possible.
Here's what happened: Went out bowhunting last year, shot a nice 4x4 muley but couldn't find it. He went off the edge of a steep clearcut and I couldn't track him. Went home for the morning and got some water (I know, should've had some water with me...) Anyways, I came back in the afternoon with my mind cleared ready to track this thing down.
Well, the good news is that I found the deer I was looking for, bad news is that he was at the bottom of the clearcut... Better news is that after finding my deer and hiking up to the top of the clearcut I found this old 066 stuck in the ground and half grown over! My best guess is that it ran lean while cutting and blew up. Then a tree fell on it? I really don't know. I brought it home anyways, if nothing more than just for a trophy.
So on to the saw...
Naturally, there's a big hole in the center of the piston, and the cylinder was gouged up pretty good, not to mention the lining was peeling off I think from sitting in the rain for so long.
Also, there is a fairly sizable crack in the fuel tank, and the brake handle was broken.
I know what you're thinking, there's not enough left of it to be worth rebuilding! But I'm kinda hard-headed. I just want to get it up and running again so I can tell everybody I found this saw out in the woods while hunting, rebuilt it, and it rips! -I think a few of you will understand...
I was going to buy a meteor aftermarket P/C, but ended up finding this oem set-up for the same price. -used, of course.
Ok, so now to the opinion, can anyone see a problem with this P/C that I should stay away from? (see pic below)
I just don't know enough to see any potential problems.
Also, the oe cylinder is off a magnum, and my saw is a regular old 066. Any problems there bolting it up? I've kinda gleaned from other threads there's a few differences, just want to make sure I can make the swap just fine.
Thanks for any input, and if anyone has an 066 fuel tank/chain brake handle they want to part with, feel free to let me know!
