Okay yeah I bought one... sucker I know, but it was so much fun in the store...

Problem, have to find the end to feed through, or take a throw ball off...

NOPE not any more... pruning saw across the top (yep job site modification:p ) and I feed in anywhere on the line. Its slightly angled so once its between the feed wheels the line can't slip out... now it's a real tool, won't collect so much dust

Yea, I thought that, but they are smooth rubber and the rollers have a sandpaper-type surface. Its like they are for a diff sized line, or something.

When I was at TCI, I inquired the same thing. Remember that this tool was not designed for arborists. It is something we borrowed from fisherpeople. One lady suggested to me that the sandpaper texture is for sharpening fish hooks. I don't know how high up the crapometer that is, but that's what she said.

Thats what it is, then.

I bet the gizmos were meant to be slipped over the rollers to snug-up the squeeze for a smaller gauge fishing line.

Make sense?

here's how I did mine. not a great pic, (don't have a real one...)
biggest problem with this thing... Hey what's that noise in my kit bag!, oh that's why the battaries are dead!

Once the line is in, it stays in as long as you keep the unit 'upright' and spooling from ground, up and back down to bag, cube, what have you.
