That's a cool video. I wonder what size cable that was?

It' too bad we don't have a decent search function here. This vid has been posted many, many times.

One heck of an operation isn't it? This will never be seen in the USA.

When I was up to look at that yarder it had 1 3/4" skyline but I have been told they have had bigger on it. Not sure but maybe as much as 2". There were a few yarders around here that carried 2" but I never heard of any bigger in recent times.

i did not even search for it, my kid's found it while looking at that flying stuffed cat vid thats floating around. did not mean too offend.:msp_wink: thought it was something you don't see everyday.

That machine is owned by Dahlgren Logging. I don't know anything about the yarder. Sounds like you've seen it before Hump? I've been told that there were only 7 of those ever made; how factual that is I don't know. I do know that the reason they flew those cats to the tail was due to the fact that behind it was ground that was heli ground because they couldn't get a road into it; (surrounded by Forest Service I believe.) The timber value was so low that using a helo was too expensive. Dahlgren specialises in this type of logging and have done several other shows like this; I also believe that that was Merril & Ring Property.

It's not until you see the guys next to the cat you realise how small it is. When it was coming down the line I was thinking it was huge and the line must have been way past maxed out! Still must have been pretty heavy on the line though... Thanks for sharing, some of us haven't yet seen that vid 500 times. I'll whine when I get to that point too though.
