when ignition switch is in the on position the coil should have power on one lug. trace your wire from switch to coil to make sure it is a good connection.

That's the way it should be, but i think on his the power has to go through the oil pressure safety switch first and then it goes to the coil. I think thats why it's not getting juice till after he starts cranking it

bypass switch

most units have a bypass switch you hold to bypass the oil pressure switch? I would guess he already has it back throwing c:greenchainsaw: hips

i ran the jumper wire from the batter to the switch. now i got power to the coil on one side with the key on. I checked for spark at the plugs and the only time i get a spark is when i turn the key off and would make a buzz/click sound.(i checked with the #1 wire from the dist.).i wouldnt get a spark while i was cranking it.

i had the ignition module checked out today and it turns out that it is working perfectly. any other ideas to maybe try?
Also, sincei have power on one side of the coil with the key on, i also have power on the otherside when im cranking it also.

On the distibutor side of the coil, you should have power with the ignition on. Take your test light and put it on the dist. side of the coil and crank. It should blink when you crank it. If it blinks and you have no spark, then your coil it bad. If the test light doesn't blink then the pick-up inside the dist. is probably bad. That's about all the ideas i have, but i'm betting on the pick-up being bad. Good luck and let us know.

Tdunk, i changes out the pickup coil(a pain in the butt to do)and it starts right up now, just having problems with the side linkage to throttle down from the pump n the pulley.

Sometimes i do have to push the soleniod to get it to crank sometimes and the saftey switch button was baypassed before.

Next time this happens, with your hood open, put the key into the ignition and turn to on. Go over to the starters side and reach down and put a screwdriver across the terminals of your starter. You'll know if it's the starter. Could be linked to that problem. Watch out though, sparks a fly homeboy...

If it ran before the carb was rebuilt, possibly then the carb needs to be tuned.

If all else fails, these hometowns are super cool.

www.fordsix.com/forum I'm sure you'll get straightened out quick.

Glad to hear you got it running. What exactly is the problem with the linkage? It probably just needs adjusted for a guess.

when i push the throttle in the rod on the opposite side from the carb to the pump/pulley keeps wanting to stay reved up and will only throttle down if i manually pull the rod back.

First i'd prolly spray all the links with wd-40 (anything that moves on the carb and the governor) and check the oil in the governor to make sure it's at the right level. Work all the linages by hand to make sure they move freely and not binding up. I'll take a look at mine hear soon, i think mine has a return spring on it.

the linkage at the very top if the motor is the one im having problems with. Where do you fill the gov? is that whats on the front with the pulley? i checked and they move freeley, i thought about using a return spring on mine.

I'll take a pic. of mine when i get a chance so you can compare it to yours. Your throttle cable should go to the governor on the engine side. On the other side of the gov. there should be a rod going to the carb. There is a spring on the gov. arm but i'm not sure if it's a return spring or not.
