What is a good general length of rope used to drag logs to a road, and help in felling trees. I cut it 40' and 100', and made loops at all ends and have the linkage such that I can attach them. The 100' is a bear to manage. I've never use wire rope in my firewood cutting efforts, and wondering what is best to take maximum advantage of my good find. Cut it further, build up my muscles, keep it in the shed for future use when the 40' is old and tired, etc.

I have several wire rope setups, 400 ft to 20 ft, 3/8 to 3/4 inch. I don't do much logging any more, but for pulling trees over I seem to find my self using the 1/2 inch 100 ft and 150 ft pieces with snatch blocks most often. The 3/8 100 ft gets a lot of use, also. I use the 3/4 400 ft maybe twice a year to pull a BIG heavy leaner because I have it, a piece of 5/8 would do the job but I don't have one that long.
