While looking for some parts for my own saws, I ran across some real old timey chainsaws. The one I checked out best is a Comet (Hoffco) D47 or G47 (all I could see was the "47" left on the decal). The next saw is an old Pioneer, which looked very odd to me (I thought maybe even two cylinder?) and looks somewhat like a Pioneer 800. It seems to be of heavy cast construction througout and even the muffler looked like cast aluminum/magnesium. The last saw, which I looked least at, I think is a Porter-Cable. It looked much like the Comet in overall build. All three were complete machines, with bar and chain, but otherwise I didn't have time to haul them into the light and really check them over. Is there any interest among you in these saws? Are they rare or worth much? Thanks!

If the one is indeed a pioneer 800 and is serviceable I would definatley be interested. Thanks

Luv those big cube saws:D

Looked at the saws again

I was again out in the area of those old saws today, so I rechecked them.

The Comet: Yes, it is a model D47. By far the best looking of the three saws and is turquoise blue in color.

The Pioneer: Looked closely but could not find any model identification. It would not turn over. The saw does have a close resemblance to a Pioneer 600/600A/610/800. I think the top cover is missing and that's why I can't figure out which model it is. Also, it has a Fairbanks-Morse starter.

The Porter Cable: Its a model 534 and it turns over.
