Do you recall how much you paid for it?

I know exactly what i paid before taxes, $6450. Back when a Ranger was a full size truck. Wasnt “loaded “ by todays standards. 351M motor, Auto, AC, full time 4 wheel drive, dual fuel tanks, carpet, AM radio, 8’ bed. Laird Noller Ford Topeka,KS

In June 1978 my father bought a new F150 4x4 from Bob Smith Ford in West Liberty IA. It was $5500. It is still in the shed. The truck was as "plain Jane" as they got. It was a Custom with a 300 six cyl and 4 speed. Of course vinyl seats and floor, no AC, AM radio, 8ft bed, single tank, no frills at all.

To put it in perspective he was a full-time trapper in Fall. He took the entire season off from work to trap. That Fall the coon top was $55. At the time 100 top coons paid for the truck. Today I have no idea what a new 1/2 ton would be but I bet $30,000 or more. The top coon is about $10 so now it would take 3000 coon to buy a truck.

I remember here, in and around that time frame, that the fur market was at its top , but then fell to the bottom shortly afterward. Worth well enough to pick up frozen roadkill, if somebody hadnt beat you to it.

My ford is a 76 its supposed to be ginger metallic.

Factory kenworth not sure theres such a thing as these tractors are butcherd soon as they leave the lot.
