I'm looking for info on getting 2 chunks for walnut milled. I recently helped an arborist friend take down a large walnut tree in exchange for all the wood. I roughed out 2 chinks approximately 22"wide x 8" thick and 6' in length. I'd like to get them trued up into 4 pieces. 1st question, is anyone on here close that would want to do this and 2, about how much am I looking at for this service.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share.

Where are you located? My buddy has a band mill. Do you have any more of that, I need walnut for my stair treads.

Check the Woodmizer site. I had a friend with an LT40 diesel in Lebanon Ct, but he retired.

Just want 4 pieces out of these 2 chunks. I realize my cuts will need to trim a bunch off to get them flat. This was my first try at "milling" w/ a 24" b/c. It wasn't exactly pretty.

Haha, here's the kicker... zero dollars. Long story short, a guy that used to be my neighbor was posting pictures of his new WoodMizer. A few messages later, bam, my logs are sliced. He said "buy me a case of beer"! I'm big on karma, so I will definitely pay this forward plus he'll get at least one case of ???

Sweet. Woodmizers rule for specialty milling! You got some beautiful slabs. Will be sweet once they are dry.

Nice slabs there!
