4 stroke bikes are easier to fast on because you have a wider spread of power compared to a 2 stroke.

I started motocrossing in Japan on a 1974 cr250 honda. It did not have a powerband. ......It was like riding an on and off switch.

I bought my Banshee new in 94. Same deal. Little power below about 8000 rpm. After that, hold on.

1977 YZ125 Yamaha. No power down low but when you hit the power band shift fast and hang the hell on.
