If you had a choice between the one of the two following would you prefer using a Blakes Hitch or Prusik?

I use a split tail and a blake's hitch, But I've been looking at a pursik cord for a different eye to eye hitch. Also going to pick up some rigging pursik stuff from the arbor shop....

"Prussik" is a bit vague. Do you mean a taut-line hitch with 2-over & 2-under, or a true prussic loop, which is 3 over, and 3 under, tied with a continuous loop of rope?

There are several other variations that are called a "prussik" also.

I climbed for years on a taut-line, and I never used a Blake's enough to get comfortable with it, even though I understand that it is supposed to be superior. The old taut-line sure could bind up tight sometimes...

Given the choice, I think I would take a prussic loop, done 3-over & 3-under. Slides good, never binds too much, and it pretty much demands to be used in a split-tail system. Safer & smarter!

i also dont use either but i would go with the blakes because its what i learned on, given a choice though i am a VT convert all the way

I never could get used to a blake's hitch either. I climbed on one for a very short period. I have mostly climbed on a prussic. I tied mine with 3 coils on the bottom and two on top with both traditional and split tail. I went with the VT a couple of years back and it has worked well for me so I have stuck with it. It is also called a french prussic so I guess I am still climbing on some form of prussic.
