The wife took the little guy to her sister's last weekend so I was able to turn this pile:

into these stacks:

The one in front of the garage is on three 4x5 pallets and the one in the other picture is on 6 or 8 4x5 pallets. I still have room for about 2 cords but need to get rid of the scraps and clean up the driveway. All in all, a good way to spend the weekend and the 288 and splitter ran like champs.

Nice stacks man! I haven't even started splitting this year yet, still just cutting and heaping up.

Thanks, guys. I just came back in from covering the stuff in the second picture. I picked through all the scraps and probably have about 20 cubic feet of scraps for the firepit. About 20 cubic feet of junk scraps too small for burning or anything worthwhile and the same amount in bark. Some of my stuff was so dry already that the bark was peeling off. Later this week starts the second wave of scavenging!

In my younger years I'd be able to split 10 cords in one summer day so I guess I'm slowing down with age!

Dang Chris,

Want a job?

Looking good. Just be sure to use the proper Town approved tarp color(s) when covering, and for Pete's sake, don't use up all the driveway for wood storage. I can't imagine the ramifications if you have to park your truck, GASP, in the front yard.

Take Care

Where do you get 4×5 pallets all the ones I get are 3.5x4 they are the standard....

From the local hardware store. They're heavier duty than a standard pallet and larger. They are built to hold concrete and I usually get them to last 5 or 6 years before they fall apart and get scrapped. A few of them were Quickrete and Peco branded pallets. They weigh a ton.

Haha. I need to replace the tattered Gadsen flag in the backyard with a new one and a Confederate flag on the opposite corner to keep the anti-wood townsfolk in check. Mother in law got ticketed for parking her car in the wrong direction on the street earlier in the week. I told her countless times to face the right way but why do I bother anymore. What would be worse: wrong way parking or parking on the grass?

I want 4 of them!!!!! My wood shed is 10x8 they would work perfect. I will have to start looking at hardware stores! Maybe even contact some of the concrete companies! Thanks!

With our latest heat wave in place, cutting and splitting has become a real bear. Things are still getting done, just a slower pace, lots of water and no 10-12 hour days, more like 6-8 hour days until the heat breaks.

Thanks! All mixed but mostly oak, maple, ash, beech, and some miscellaneous pine and birch for the campfire. I'm not picky.
