hey
this thing is just kicking my a . the qd bushing broke in the flywheel of my chipper. 2 big pieces of it broke off the backside but it never broke free. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW I CAN GET THE BUSHING OUT NOW???? ive tried heating and using a air chisel on the face of the bushing with it just laughing at me.

I'm confused. The pilot bearing for the clutch shaft is in the flywheel. Are you referring to the sheave/pulley coming off of the clutch? If you still have the empty hole for the allen head in the bushing, I would recommend tightening the allen head and using a 3 lb. hammer to hit the sheave/pulley on the rungs. Be sure not to hit the part the belt rides on as you will damage the sheave. When using the hammer, hit in a circular motion and tighten the allen head as you go along. This should help the two separate.

Hope this helps and I wish you luck in removing it.

frozen qd bushing

hey
im talking about the big flywheel on the opposite side of the pulley. i used the bolts as jack screws as recommended but it broke. 2 big pieces broke off the back that the bolts pushed against to get the 2 to break free now i cant get the bushing and the flywheel to break from each other.

Use gear puller and washers

I hope you took off the 3 bolts that are in the picture that tighten the bushing on the shaft off. The bushing is tappered and has a split in it. The last time we took our off, we had the same problem with the broken back. We put two longer bolts in the treaded holes of the fly wheel with large heavy steel washers that we made from 1/8' steel. We then hooked a "very large" gear puller on the washers and slowly tightened the puller as we beat the fly wheel with a sledge hammer and also applied lots of heat. It all of a sudden went bang and came off. Be careful as the flywheel is very heavy as you can imagine. Good Luck!
