Can this tree be saved? I was shown a California incense cedar about 50 inches in diameter and 200' tall. The tree had some work done by someone else about a year ago (no spikes were used) and I saw a large mushroom growing about 30 feet up today. Just wondering if it can be removed and the tree be saved. I have some pictures but Im not sure how to post them. I appreciate any help, THANKS

Either put the pictures on a site like photobucket and use the IMG code to post the image inline or use the "manage attachments" link in Additional options under reply to thread.

Just above the box that you type your post in is a little paperclip icon. That will upload your pic.
It's good to resize the pics first.

removing the conk will not stop decay. needs to be assessed by tapping the trunk and listening for hollow, and/or drilling.

Nothing to panic about--gather more info.
