i looked at a large silver maple today. the tree seemed to be in good health except for where a large branch had broken off a couple years ago. the branch was appox.16in. in dia. it was cut back to the branch collor.the tree has compartmentalized the wound well. the problem i am wondering about is there is a large white mushroom where the old Branch has rotted away about 9in. into the cavity. there are three other leads the same size all healthy. my question is will the other leads be compromised by the cavity with the fungus? i am not able to post pics.
