hi
i have been trying to find an answer to this question in the threads but have had no luck. i grew up running saws with my old man on the farm, but we used mostly older saws. we never worried about using high grade gas. i just bought a 2165 and will be running premium fuel in it. i also have a 625 II and a 2137 which have been getting regular fuel- is there any risk in upgrading them to premium just so that i dont have to worry about having to deal with two different grades of gas? aside from the higher fuel cost are there any drawbacks? are there any benefits? sorry if this has been answered before but i couldn't find an answer and i can't get through to my dealer till next week.

thanks for any help lou.

No problem. You got a lot of reading ahead of you. Seems like (myself included) everyone was on a "what gas to use in my saw" kick for about a month straight. Take care.

i ran regular in mine till this weekend. i went and got a gallon of premium mixed with lucas semi synthetic to 50:1 and wow what a difference. i always had a problem with idle because i went a little big on the muff mod, not sure if it's the gas or the oil as i was running canadian tire brand dino oil. i had old mix in it and started and let it warm up while i mixed the new. it hardly idled and died twice. dumped the old oil and reg gas and put in premium and the new oil and i actually had to turn the idle down. i didnt think reg to premum made that much of a difference but i will never run regular again, or anything less than semi synthetic oil also.
