A tip for plastic peanuts: Fill plastic grocery bags about 1/4 full and tie. Pack the bags around the (wrapped) saw tightly. This will keep the peanuts and the saw from shifting in the box, and your recipient will be grateful for not having to deal with loose peanuts and fragments that cling to everything around.

I once received an item, where the seller placed it in a plastic bag, and tried to fill the rest of the box with foam-in-a-can insulation / sealant.

As I recall, it did not work as well as he expected, but was OK.

I think that the trick would be finding the right kind of foam. Something that expanded to fill large volumes (some of the window seal stuff won’t), but won’t expand and blow the cardboard box apart.

I use it and it works great. If a person does not enough common sense not to know how to use a product they probably are not someone you want to buy from.

I bought 3 low water use toilets online. Had free shipping even though I live in the middle of nowhere.
They told me to check the box’s before I signed for them
They were packed in heavy duty cardboard boxes and spray foam.
They could have been dropped from the truck with no issues
That is the way it should be.

There are different types and densities of expanding foams.

The window sealing types, sold at most home centers, are intended for small beads, and need air to set. You need to build up multiple layers.

Foams intended for wall insulation, or marine buoyancy, can be used to fill larger voids. These are often dispensed as 2-part mixes.

why i only use post, and encourage someone i might be buyin from to do same
most are ok w/that

I have no issue saving you folks money but you have to realize the horrible limitations of USPS. The physical size, weight, piss-poor tracking, and slow movement are something I do not like.

I am aware of that.

Get yourself three good size zip ties bottom of handle, side of handle, and one on bottom of throttle handle. Put them through the box with zip inside. I would put brown package tape over the part of tie outside the box just so someone doesn’t know it’s there and fill in the box with whatever to make it fit tight
