It's for a comparison. Why you getting your patties all in a wad over me talking about a similar sized dump trailer?

OK, maybe your trailer comparison is helpful. You're are saying that it can dump a 14,000lb load. That's great. I really need to hear from some large truck guys though.

My F-450 has a 9' bed. And Iv'e filled it with shale till the tires were bulging, 1.5 cords of split wood, chips to the gills or a full load of 36" maple rounds and never ever has it been unable to dump. It has an electric/ hydraulic system. It makes a little more noise and is a little slower but always dumps.... Mike

All of my single axle dumpers have the same hoist and are mounted in the same location on the boxes. Trucks all have 16 foot boxes and have all lifted at least 30 000lbs which well exceeds the GVW of the truck.

Their is no magic number that a truck will lift. It basically comes down to Pump pressure, size and type of hoist and if a sicissor hoist where it is mounted on the box. But a truck with a 12 foot box of your size should be able to dump the load described.

Im not sure what you know but I know a guy that bought a brand new 1 ton Chevy 8' dump truck. I gave him some pointers and he went to become a contractor. Ran into him a couple days later and he says first load he put on truck he overloaded. Long story short, He never revved up the engine. He thought thats all he should do. I told him to rev up and since then he had dirt spilling over the sideboards. So not to sound like a smartie but are you revving the engine? If you are then as stated before the relief valve is dumping fluid to the tank. You may want to put a gauge on the hyd. system and make sure its not releasing at too low pressure.

get the trailer, truck on a small incline (or on flat land drive your front on some blocks) and try it out.

I had a similar problem with my dump trailer on my tractor when fully loaded with rooftile debris. Kept the trailer on the 3pt and raising th 3pt and then dumping was enough to get it going.
