Gypo,
Are you trapping Beaver again? Did those two girls that picked you up like each other more than you, guess they were fur traders.LOL
Since its been raining so much, you better be wearing that Rain Coat.

I think John is in intense training at a climbing camp somewhere undisclosed.

Hi Russ, here's a video of your 046EHP. It's not broken in yet, but it's a fast one.
Not sure of the wood dia., but Ed knows, since he turned the poplar log- very hard stuff.
John

Hi Frank (Crofter), here's your 026EHP with your chain. It's running right up there with my 346KD and my chain, which says we both build a darn good chain. LOL
John

Crofter and Jokers,
Looks like you have gravitated over to the Dark side, And Why wouldnt you.
Ed has done it again and turned out some great saws. That little 260 rocks and the 046, its very impressive.
You guys should be really happy with those saws. Wow what a differance.

Keep up the good work Ed!

Gypo, I've got an older Mac 610 that will keep up with that one..Too bad you're so far away--I would like to bring a few of my older saws up north & race with ya'll!!!

That wood was 31.4 in around so 10 inch diameter and came from a place north of a town called Britt, Crofter would know where that is, the wood was given to the town of Bracebridge for there lumberjack show and all I did was turn it, I would never use popular like that at a show, it just wrecked way to many axes, out of 38 choppers they bent , broke 21 axes so to say the wood is hard because it grows so slow and there is no soil there just rock , but i turned it and they paid me $1500 for my time and machine,we had ofter wood that cut alot faster but i thought the turned wood looked nice, at the contest we used the same size wood for the 0-81cc piped class and the winning time was 1.4 seconds slower than the normal winning time which is 3.8 or 3.9 seconds with cold start ,3 cuts
the 12 inch underhand time was 26.2 seconds won it and with alot of the top choppers from canada and the eastern usa that time should of been high 17's low 18's

EHP, I never knew that Poplar was such a hard wood, i'm usually only cutting different types of Oak, Cherry Maple & some Hickory. Where is the next lumberjack/saw type of show being held?--The further south the better for me--Thanks.

the wood used at most shows here is trembling aspen or white pine, but the aspen is the wood most guys want to see, main reason is the knots are not that hard and donot break there axes or crosscuts, the harder wood most times never hunt the saws they just cut slower, the next show here is Minden which is the second Saturday in june but the cut off date has long passed , i am not sure on any contest down your way , when my father had 2 cutting crews do in Georiga, i donot remember anything thing being said about contest there either, there is a show in Quebec this weekend but the saw classes are 0-81cc pipe and open anything goes,
for me to compare wood , i have cut lots of yellow popular and just like any ofter wood you get soft and hard in it, that 10 inch wood is harder than most yellow i have cut and if we had cut the rackers to cut that wood sure they would of cut faster but as soon as you go back to the normal wood the chain wood be junk

Thanks for reply, a budy of mine & myself haver mounted a Bultaco 500 cc single cylinder bike motor/ with some head & exhaust work done to an older Mac frame--we are using a stock slightly modified carb with a NOX kicker. Times so far have been impressive, we just have to get the right chain/bar combo together & modify the grips because of the torque of the motor the saw wants to lift you off the ground! :D

now one thing up here all the shows here in Ont. and Quebec are cold start so if you are going to come up here or even in the east side of usa most shows you are going to have to start that big saw fast, now out west i am not sure on the cold start but i think they do mostly over the block and 1 cut , where out here you have to do 3 cuts

Cuts are no problem, the fast start might be another thing!--The motor has so much compression that you have to stand on the bar & pull with both hands, it starts right up & once it starts it has cut in some times that are close to the posted record cut times that I've seen posted here. We're not sure how long the engine will last with the NOX on but it is a thrill to cut with!:p

So i would take it that it is a saw for over the block running, you need to find a show that has that kind of start, I know out west has some of those kind of show , now the NOX , i take that as nitrios , if it a open class you should be allowed to run that but some have a no pressured tank rule so nitrios would be out

ehp, we can take the NOX off the saw, make a few carb mods & run nitro methane which will give us about 80% of the power that NOX has been giving us. Are any fuels allowed?

most places here you can run any fuel, but not sure out west , have heard different stories on out there but that may just be on chainsaws not bike saws, it sounds like it is fast so get her out there are lay the smack down

a 3120 stroker true rpm's are no higher than 13.700 rpm's in the wood, you can make the motor turn more rpm's but when running 20% nitro the carb can only pump so much fuel and with the transfers opened up like we have the more rpm's the more fuel you need and the carb cannot provide anymore fuel so you run out of fuel, most 3120's turn in the 13.100 to 13500 rpm 's, I guess you could turn a few more rpm's if all you are going to cut is 8 by 8 and nothing bigger

Best we have done with ours is about 11,900 WOT in wood with chisel chain 20 inch bar--18 inch red oak--we can tweak the carb a little more but the motor produces so much torque at that RPM we really do not need to run the engine any faster--probably would not take much more anyway..we are using a gravity feed system so fuel flow is not a problem. Using a carb setup off of an Austin Mini 850 CC 4cyl motor carb that can be adjusted for infinite fuel & air flow. We are also working on a full Teflon roller bar that would almost eliminate friction from the chain to bar surface..Hope we can meet someday to swap ideas!

Hi Bills Oaks

Morton, Washington Aug. 14, 15, 27"or 28" cottonwood, Hot start, one cut. One cylinder motors anything goes. 2.59 seconds was the winning time last year. You’ll be running against Honda 500's, Maico’s, & Rotax’s. You get one cut per-day, for a total of 2, come on out we need the competion. Put a couple compression release’s in your head if you can’t start that saw very easy. The one I run has 4 in it. Check out American Lumberjacks Ass. website. Rollie
