I went to use my 025 tonight and found the gas cap leaking and the oil cap rubber broken. Can you replace the rubber part, the cap looks ok. If I can replace, where would I get one or would some o-ring in the hardware store work.

Nelly

I'd get an o-ring from any Stihl dealer. Hardware store o-rings might not be the exact same size or may not be resistant to fuel. They can't be very expensive, probably a dollar or less. An improperly fitting generic o-ring would leak more than that in lost fuel.

my closest dealer couldn't tell me that there was a different bar on an 025 than an 026. I had to tell him.

I will check with him anyway.

Thanks,
Greg

I'll check tomorrow night when I go to the saw shop for the weekly B.S. session. Are these the screw tight caps or the ones with the lock tab?

Greg,
Just so you know you aren't alone with less-than-knowledgable dealers, you might want to check out the 'mail order stihls' thread. :p

These are the screw type caps.

I started reading the mail order thread just after my original post. I can believe it.

Thanks guys.
Nelly
