i just purcased a center drive to upgrade to a 3/8 chain on my stihl ms290
just wondering if you are to reuse the washer from the orginal sprocket, witch would prevent the rim gear from coming off the spline or if you just slide the new drum on and replace the clip??

Use the washer from your existing saw. I have never bought a sprocket that did not come with a new washer and clip. I do always buy Oregon parts in place of stihl parts to save money. Did you buy a stihl sprocket? If so they probably sell the washer separate for about 2 bills. I would use the old washer before I buy a new one for one or two dollars. Dont forget to gease your needle bearing while it is apart.
