In my boredom I have been playing around with the sewing machine and have made a few rope buckets and throw line bags.
I have been playing with the idea of making a gear bag specifically designed for arborists. When I was younger I used to rodeo alot, and I have an old gear bag that has a small garment bag attached to it for a bullriders protective vest or chaps. I am thinking I can use this same type of set up for a climbers bag, but instead of a garment bag, have a rope tarp attached to the bag via fastex buckles. The inside of the bag I have now has pockets sewn to the inside of it that would be perfect for biners, figure 8's, pulleys, slings, or small blocks. I was wondering if I could get any feed back from you guys as to what you would like to see in a set up like this. The general idea is to have a climbers saddle, spikes, climbline, and various other accesories all in one convenient bag. I only have a pic of the rodeo version but it will kinda give you a general idea of what I have in mind.

I am also playing around with rope bucket and throw line bag designs, Has any one ever seen a line bag with a pocket on the outside that closes with velcro to store the throw ball?

Throw me some ideas here guys.

... how about making that bmp a jpeg. It hacked my machine. Then again my computer net hates anything from Microsoft. Ya, I'm a leading edge guy I run Linux:D

Check out VerticalPro's backpack gear stuff.

I don't have the link handy, but I'm sure someone does.

I think a good backpack is my next gear purchace, I saw one that actuall fits me at REI. Cant rmember the brand though. looks like it would be comfy humping 150# of climb/rig gear out on a property or into a wooded area.

Trust me, humpin a 150lbs ruck is never comfy. But I may see what I can think up in that department. Blackhawk Corp. makes alot of the assault packs we used to use, but they are pretty expensive. My concept is to have every thing you need in one pack or bag. I will just keep playing around with ideas and keep ya'll posted. And yes Rollacosta if ya cant be good at something, ya can at least look good.

I will post some pictures tomorrow of my bag. I got it at TCI '03. It holds 60' shorty climbing line, a 120', my saddle, throwline, some slings, pulleys, zubat, hand pruners, extra carabiners, etc.

If I could just fit a chainsaw in there!

Cool deal Nick, send me the photo and I will draw up some schematics. The only thing I can see with putting a saw in a nylon or cordora bad is gas and oil leaks. But I may be able to figure something out. Keep me posted with any other Ideas.
