We tried a borrowed pair out and everyone liked them I am thinking about buying a pair what say you guys? The first thing I noticed was the pads were nice and the second thing was the angle of the spur was canted out more and was more narrow than what we use now so it just went in the tree easier.

I wouldn't buy them anytime soon. The current stock at Sherrill has been made with an exceptionally long velcro strap.

Only a small portion of the velcro actually bonds to itself with this long of a strap which is very unsafe, IMO. Not sure the reason for the redesign but according to Sherrill every Gecko currently in stock has the long strap. In Sherrill's defense they stood behind their product and returned my money but I still had to pay return shipping and don't have a pair of Geckos. Waiting for the company to make a public, official apology and return to the original product. Hopefully they do this before someone inexperienced enough to wear them gets hurt.

So what should I get ? Sherrill has a return policy if your not happy or how does that work?

They refunded my purchase price but not the shipping. Couldn't find another supplier or who actually manufactures the product. I bought the caddy pads instead.

I bought a pair for a new climber I hired last week. No problems with the velcro,
Jeff

Really? When did you order them? Any pics? The guy at Sherrill told me they all had the same length strap, which is quite obviously far too long.

BTW, I'm not the first one to come across this issue. Dave Shaw had the same problem.

I'll try to remember to get pic's Monday. The Vermeer dealer here has them in stock. I'll ask him if what he knows. Maybe I just got lucky instead.
Jeff

Cool. Might be your dealer still has older versions on the shelf and Sherrill is all out of those. Might ask you to grab me a set and ship 'em if you think you are up to the task?!?!?
