Hi all,
I have been reading this site and its taking in its very useful information for some time now. I have been working with several tree companies in my area and am starting to look ahead at future possibilities. That being said, I am interested in hearing how some of you that own a business got your start. I am extremely motivated to have my own business at some point, but feel held back due to a high debt to income ratio and unceratinty of jumping into a slow market. keep in mind, this is probably at least a few years down the road, but I am just interested in hearing about the paths that some AS members took to starting and maintaining a successful tree care buisness.

Aloha

Keep a steady job and take on every small side job you can. Experience will come with time. Bigger jobs grow from the smaller ones and a good rep goes a long way. Look for the one big job that could possibly pay for a piece of equipment and go from there. It'll take time but grow slowly and safe.
