Goldenrain Tree

I have a Goldenrain Tree whip, approx. 4', that I am about to put in the ground. There is seconday branch growing out 2.5 feet up the trunk. Is is basically like a second leader, growing pretty much straight up. I don't think I could spread it. My inclination is to cut it off, but having never grown this tree would ask your advice. Thanks in advance.

Prune it off, try to maintain one leader if you can, good luck.
