sIlogger come to MTU they have a master of forestry program, and drinks more beer than any school I know of. haha

But if you want to log you would have to like running big equiptment because most operations here are skidder/forwarder and feller buncher/processor and a slasher if need be. Very little hand felling.

what forestry education would be usefull in the day to day operations of a forest service employee dealing with logging operations in your area.

i'm about to finish up my bachelors in forest resource management (SAF accredited) and was thinking of a masters in forest engineering.

Industrial Forest Operations or Forest Engineering.

You'd either have to find a big time logger that you can go cut for any time because he likes you and can fit you in any time, or more likely and possible, the res. tree work, which can be really flexible. Or maybe find a nearby landowner that needs tsi or some other service work you can do on weekends. School is pretty full time, plan on mostly just knocking it out.

You obviously haven't been to UMaine. ;)

Just once and wasn't impressed with their drinking abilities at all. Bunch of skirt wearing nancy's. :hmm3grin2orange:

Remember we have snow from october-march/april, so we have nothing else to do but just sit around and drink. MTU isn't a party school its just a drinking school. Not uncommon for 3-4 guys to have a keg on tap at their house for "dinner". Ask anybody whos been if theres one thing we do well its drinking.

In fact I live in a house with 4 people, one who doesn't drink beer. We have a keg on tap and go through at least 2 barrels a week just for our personal consumption. Having an over abundance of snow allows us to store kegs in gods refrigerator for when its time to have a gathering.
