So I'm driving through town this morning and see an 80 year old man cutting on a 15 foot dead pine tree with a bow saw. So having a couple saws in the truck I stop and put the tree on the ground and cut it up for him carry the heavy logs to his brush pile. He asked what he owes me, I hand him a card and tell him to just let someone know who helped him out. 20 min. out of my life. I have had people help me when I needed a hand and not take anything for their trouble. I enjoy paying it forward now and again.

Just the obvious pleasure you received from doing it is all the payment needed. But if god be willing you get a job or two out of it then its a win win situation.

tree MDS,
It took 20 min. of my time to drop and cut it up. His thanks and gratitude in helping him out was worth more than $250 or anything else. I didn't stop looking for payment. This was a man determined to do the job himself and I just made it a bit easier for him.
I've learned that Karma can be a ##### and I chose to stay on her good side.

Nice job Lawrence. If it were me I would have made him get me a glass of water and make him sit down and talk to me. I love listening to old peoples stories.

I agree totally, I was just kidding. Good for you.

I like old people, they make some of the best customers and it always feels good to do a extra good job for them just knowing how easy some dirt bag could have screwed them.

I'm all down with the karma thing, heck I once brought baby squirrills that I found in a tree to a rescue and even donated 50 bucks. With my luck I cant afford to risk bad karma. lol

I too enjoy helping others. Makes me feel good. However there will often be days like today, when you realize that the guy you helped in the past did nothing but screwed you in the end.

Folks from that generation almost more than any, appreciate kindness and a helping hand.

Good effort.

And they are also the least likely to ask for a helping hand. I like working for the older folks too. I always enjoy sitting down and talking to them.

Good on you Lawrencetreeman.

Karma is real. You are building a bank balance here. Well done.

Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Heb 13:2

To ask for a glass of water and then tell me a couple of the most valuable lessons you have ever learned, would be something clever I might think about AFTER having driven away. Usually I reply to the question of what do I owe you, "a thank you is more than enough".

Good - better - BEST is doing good and never being found out. . . :)
