I am restoring a Stihl 031AV that turned over on starter fluid (the combustion chamber looks in great shape) but wouldn't pull fuel. Of course I strip the thing down to a bare crankcase and flywheel to find the fuel line melted in the tank some time ago. That was probably all I needed to replace
The bottom of the fuel tank is a dusty, resin-caked mess. Does anyone know an economical way to get rid of this stuff? I could probably use acetone or carb cleaner but it'd take a lot to get the job done.
