Looking to get three new saws... namely an MS200T, an MS260Pro, and an MS361. I have been looking around and found a place that will give me all three for $1585. That is $515 for the MS200T, $480 for the MS260Pro, and $590 for the MS361. These prices include a bar and chain for each saw and all sales tax. Do these prices sound about right? I know Stihl does not sell over the phone or internet and there is only one dealer in my area so I just wanted to kinda see what yall though.

The 192 is nice for small prunings but go with the 200t. 515 with tax is a little high. The saw is 500 list. Sounds like he is giving a little less than retail.

I would probably go with something bigger than the361 to compliment the 260 haven't used either but they seem awfully close to each other sizewise, what about making that a 440 or something in that size range than you have eveything you'd ever need

a Craftsman 18" 40cc gas chainsaw goes for $150. that's 5cc's MORE than the STIHL 200T. you will be overpaying by $350 for less power !!!!!!
it's all brand naming and clever marketing on STIHL's part. the executives at STIHL are laughing at everyone. who do you think pays for all their sawing competitions, sponsorships, big trade show booths, and dealerships? it's all added to the saws cost.

me too, the 200t is too much, and the 26 and 361 are too close.
I suggest:
192T
dolmar 5100s (it outcuts my 26pro and 36 pro, and stays with my 372)
dolmar 7900 (I hear rumors from the sales rep of a 7900S on the way!!!)

i bought 4 Craftsmans with MORE "cc" power for the same price as one overpriced 200T. you do the math. it's pure mechanics over clever marketing.

buy a Craftsman and be the man you were meant to be !!!

The MS200 is awesome, how about getting the MS200 and a MS460 and a used something else, like a 272XP, 036 etc. Why have two new saws so similar? get something with some balls.

You are a complete tool!! Look at the KW rating not the cc rating! Its all in how you use the ** amount of cc's. Not how many it has. And furthermore craftsman doesnt make a top handle saw!

I want to stick with stihl or husky because i have used those brands all my life and never had a problem with them and i am not really familiar with the other brands. i agree that the 260 and the 361 are pretty close saws. they could step on each others toes a little. any thoughts on the 440, the 372 or 575 instead of the 361?

that's so not true

ms200 great pruning saw and powerfull enough for takedowns, not to mention excellant ballance. ms260 another proven and reliable. ground saw for limbing. to round off the trio i would go for the ms460 for the larger logs with these three you can take down a large majority of you trees. if your worried about having to much saw i believe it better to have more than you need than trying to make do with what you have.

Ive had a couple 200t and a couple 192. The 192 is not so good for cutting with the top of the bar. The 192 is ok little saw, but lacks the real power like the 200 has. Get the 200t (it's worth the extra bread, and not much heavier)

The thing you gotta figure is; What ya gonna be doing with them saws?

Do you need the extra four tenths of a HP and the extra 1.1lbs? (difference between the 192 and the 200)

The 192 is a sweet a** little saw.

Of course, I don't do the BIIIIIIIG prunes and am secure in my masculinity, so I don't need much more than that.

I gave $379 plus tax for mine from the local Stihl dealership.

If it were me; I would not even consider the 260. stick with the 360 and bump your big saw up to a 440.

Prices sound about the same as here in VA. As for the which saws to get depends on the work. The 200t is the top of the line in my opinion, but it is very high priced. Lot of $$$ to shell out if you are just starting out. Might buy the 192t and the 260 as a good climbing/limbing combo to get started and get the 200t after you make some $$. As for the 361, it is a great firewood saw but not quite as strong as the 440. If I was just starting out 192t for climbing, 260 for the ground, and 440/460 for the trunk/wood. After a season of $$$ I would get the 200t and a 660. All good choices. Good luck.

Here's what I paid within in the past year or two:

list/my cost

200 16" - 510/ 458
260pro 18" - 480/432
361 20" - 510/485
460 28" - 770/693

price is one thing... where are you going to get it fixed,, is another thing....i don't know about your area,,,but, both the sthil, and husky dealers here have a motto..."take it back to where you bought it" i'd rather pay a few extra bucks for the local service, and to support other local guys!!!!!we get a lot of work from those guys..... i have a 361 sthil for flushing stumps,, rocking saw if its sharp!!! was going to get a ms440 for bigger stuff,, but i think i'm going to go with the ms460....as far as the 192t vs 200t....go for the 200,,, like driving a car with a 6 or an 8,,, a few more bucks,, but its worth it...
