You can have all the compression in the world, but if your port timing is crap you wont see the power.

Build a car engine...do you measure power with a compression gauge or a dyno, or a trip to the strip?

The reason Briggs and other 4cycle companies dont publish compression values is the fact the motors have built in compression release,

Where can you buy them?
Search this site for some threads about the special schrader valves for compression testers used on small cc engines, part numbers and prices.
You can get ripped off if not careful.

Here is one thread about such, building your own, special valves, etc.
Note that I made some of them from the long stem type automotive inner tube schraders by cutting the spring. I calibrated them by using the special good schrader that read correctly.
If your low pressure schrader starts reading incorrectly or leaking back just try cleaning it. If I see a chainsaw or engine indicating low compression I have another spare complete compression tester that I use to confirm such before flogging into the engine.
