Got given a plastic Homelite Super 2. Where do I find the model number?

It has been a chainsaw kinda day. A guy gave me this saw for free and it runs. I took pics but I am sure you have seen the plastic case before. Where do I find the model number on these? It needs a new chain and maybe a new bar. The current bar is 18". That seems long. There is something funny about the bar tip. The sprocket seems to stick out too far. It looks like the chain is riding on the sprocket instead of the bar. I will post pics later.

This is supposed to be the bar pattern. Am I gonna have a hard time finding a new bar?

Ok. I am thinking a 12" bar. That is weird about the sprocket. I see that there are some other makers of that mount style. Wonder what the pitch and gauge of the chain is? Research time!

I'd go 12" or 14".
Pitch is typically 3/8 Low Profile.

To make sure you get the correct parts list you need to find the small tag with the u.t. number

Hmm this be all I got. The only thing that even looks like a model is the tiny 246Y under the UL logo.

EDIT: Sorry it is so big but if I did a thumbnail, the dang thing was tiny.

That's a newer model.....not sure where the UT # is on that bad boy.
I just assumed all Super 2's had the same bar mount

The UT number would be on a decal.
It should be were the sticker residue is, at the top of your pic.

Try the "Help Number" posted on the sticker. It is valid.

I want to change the air filter but first I have to figure out how to get it out! I need to blow out the flywheel and fins. But after some cleaning, it will be a good saw.

The plastic cage usually unclips at one side to allow you to remove the foam filter pad

Thanks Al. It took me a little bit to get it open but I did. The old filter is shot and for some reason, there is a hole in it.

I got a real good deal on a 12" bar and I should be able to get a 48 drive link chain for it locally. It is the Oregon bar the the A061 mount I need.
