Local funeral home offered me a honeylocust tree. Thornless, thankfully!
Their son-in-law (tree service guy) would drop it, I would take all I want, and then they would clean up the rest. This is a block from my house.

The tree was huge - 43" across. I got two smallish trailer loads, but I also have a number of logs for milling. Sheesh, I wish that mill would get here! We've got gobs of logs to mill.

Anyway, here are the pics:

Two trailer loads of firewood about this size:

All wood is stacked and ready for splitting later on. Will work on getting the logs out of there next week.

I'll agree "You suck". Wish I could get a deal like that. But, I'm scared to hang out at funeral homes they might decide to keep me.

Are you sure about that? I thought honey locust did not fair well in the elements. Black locust is a different story...
No, I am not sure. I worked on a thoroughbred farm in my late teens and early twenties and all our fence boards were "locust". Hard as hell to drive a spiral nail in, but I did not know the difference between honey or black locust back then. Heck, I doubt I knew there was two species at all then.
