Got my husky 288...good and bad..need help

Ok so i got a 288 off of ebay...It needs some love but i got it for 100...It runs but barely...pops and farts out the intake and the exhaust...seems to run ok at times but the backfires and dies...havent looked at it to much yet..any ideas?...Havent checked the compression but its WAY up there and the piston and sleeve look great...

Id check carb first, and then test compression... that should get you started...

ya i was thinking maybe a crank seal or something....i am sure compression is well over 150...need to take the carb off to and look at it...

well that wasnt to difficult lol...There are 2 wires that go to the coil and one was worn all the way through and rubbing on the case...I will fix that and it should be the problem i hope anyway..

May as well throw a new plug in there while you're at it ....

it has a new plug looks as if the piston and cylinder and new also...That fixed the problem ....best 100 i have ever spent
