That looks to me like someone has deliberately run bolts into the case... there appears to be reminants of thread there & I can't see the saw running well enough for long enough after 1 hole was made for a second hole to be made if they were from screws rubbing.
Where did the saw come from?
What are the P&C like?
I did a course years ago with a Husqvarna rep that had saws with things like that done to create issues for students to find

it looks to have thread left yes, i wondered if it had been dropped from height and landed on its belly and bust the holes thru in that manner , p&c are spot on , perfect nick full compression. ur making me think now. the same guy gave me a stihl i think he had tried taking the flywheel off by turning it with a stilsson and holing the top of the piston in as he was doing so,, nice and easy to advance the timing on that flywheel now as well.lol

i believe 359 is the same cases as well ya too long of screws will be hitting the bottom of the tank as the saw flexes on its mounts
Same everything except for crank stuffers and top end as the 359.
The screws on the bottom are supposed to be really short, and a ham fisted idiot would easily strip them right out. No surprise someone would have stuck longer screws in with the damage present.
The pto side case is pretty thin in the front near the one iso mount/ chain catcher, breaks pretty easily. Mine was broken when I got it. If someone was pretty rough I could see how that crack formed as well. They are great saws when running right, if be looking for a new case and rebuilding it.

yes ,if i can get a case at handy money , i will build it as its very clean. failing that i have a trusty 357xp thats been rode hard and put away wet each day of its life that may need bits off it in the future, although its all original to date .given the total torture its endured its a miracle saw that one

I believe the crankshaft is different too. I don't think you can use a 359 crankshaft in a 357 because the 357 crank needs material removed on each side to account for the thickness of the stuffers.
They are interchangeable. Both fit in the same case, but yes they are a different part number.
