My grandparents wanted to cut down a crabapple tree today and was wondering if it makes good firewood?

Yes but there won't be much there. My rule is 'if a tree has to be removed, its wood and it will provide heat' Most furit tree wood is good firewood. It is also good for smoking.

I split up a fairly big crabapple tree this summer and, to me, it had the same aroma of apple. I would give it a try for smoking.

I cut one up 3 years ago that was about 18" at the back cut. It took a year to season css....Made great firewood & works the same as orchard apple for smoking.... Good stuff!!!
