Grafting

Hello, I am new to this site, at least for posting. I am a lurker. But have a question I am sure someone here can help with.
I want to graft part of an old nut producing Hickory tree to a piece of smaller root stock. My intent is to get the tree to porduce large thin shelled nuts without having to wait 20 years as seed grown trees require. ANyone care to help me out?
