Changing blades on a 6 inch gravely (625 pro chip) chipper first time I got blades sharpen anvil looks like a dull chipper blade any advise on the anvil changing it how important it is also seems like changing anvil is a lot more complex compared to changing blades

Sharp blades, sharp anvil and the right anvil gap are keys to decent feeding and not overworking your machine. It is worth the pain to do the job right on your new machine and pull the anvil. If gravely wants too much for a new one, the edge can be rebuilt. Took mine to a machine shop who welded hard surface on the cutting edge, then ground the 90deg edge like new. Reinstall, set the mfgr gap. Machine fed faster and stopped throwing long stringy chips.

Thank you for info I was thing about pulling the anvil and have it sharpen since it look just like a chipper blade with a 45 degree angle
