Recently during Hurricane Ike a larger tree fell on my green ash. This tree had really turned out to be a nice specimen. But, the main trunk of the tree was snapped in half by the other falling one. The other larger diameter offshoots are doing fine and their branches. Should I go ahead and take this tree out and start over ? I cut the damaged main part which was about 20' of tree and branches out. I painted over the cut to hopefully prevent any potential disease issues. Please advise.
