I'm looking at several options for a new saw ( for high production, big log sawing). New vs. custom, or fix my brokeass 3120.
Can I get some feedback on Dennis Greffards saws?
any other options would be great, but sounds to me Dennis
builds a good saw.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi treeslayer, Dennis builds a good saw. I just felled and bucked to log length, 20,000 bf. of Rock Maple with a 357 Sno Pro he built for me. This translates to approx. 70 trees, or 2 and a third tractor trailer loads or 150 tons of wood. The saw is everything you need if you look after it.
May I suggest that you do some horse trading and get one of the saw builders here to build a 385 or 2186 for you in exchange for your parted out 3120.

Hi
You might want to check with dozerdan. He also does excellent work and is always looking for parts saws.

My 3120 is a 1990 model, and somebody before me took the carb off, put it back on without the gasket , which (supposedly) created a pressure differential problem. the crank bearing gave up, and the piston and cylinder took a hit when it all let go.
I had been running it for months, and had no problems. I cut some really big logs into loadable blocks, bucked some huge trees, and never noticed anything out of the ordinary.
Til it cut off one day, that is.
sure left a bad taste in my mouth about buying used saws.

My question is; could this saw be resurected through the miracles of modern hot saw technology?

Or should I throw it in on the deal for a new one.
