Hi Everyone, I need some advice. I am using a Stihl USG grinder on 325 chain, with a CBN wheel CS575.8812E, 5 3/4 x 1/8 x 12mm from Diamond Wheel Inc. my settings are 40-30-and 15 degree. My problem is I am getting a Lot of hook which doesnt seem to happen with the wheel that came with the machine from Stihl. Any advice would be appeciated. Thank You...

There are lots of different .325 chain varieties. If cutting in hardwood with chisel tooth chain, consider stepping back to 25° across the top plate angle. (table angle, reversed with each side of the chain)

Quite frankly, I am not sure what the "40-30-and 15 degree" means. I generally grind with 60° armature angle (side plate angle), and the file guide angle is set at 0°. My Oregon grinders don't tip any further than 10° anyway. I am sure that Stihl has some charts showing angles. Try to match them, then go crazy with some experiments. That is why the machines are adjustable: so that you can change from the factory settings.

copy link, delete spaces, paste into browser to see this table.

In general, the angles quoted for sharpening a chain are for hand filing. I have never found that setting my table at 10° ever made a bit of difference to a big round grind wheel. Much different when hand filing.
