Hi folks - Growth inhibitor use is not particularly common in the UK but I understand it has been used for a few decades in the states. I've got an application to treat a large Blue Cedar with Mazide 25 (for no particular reason it would seem). I can't find much info regarding the long term effects of this sort of treatment. Any offers?

By the way; I found some lovely stuff onthe web about trials in the 80s using diesel and toluene as a carrier, painted in a nice broad band around the trunk and even root injection of the same! We've come a long way since then I hope?

I didn't see anything on the Mazide 25 label other than turf. Can it even be used in the UK for trees?

Well this is the question, the tree Surgery firm seem to think so. (a well known US firm that has branches in the UK as well) I thought that it might be a well used chemical in the US but most info I can find favours Cambistat as a growth regulator.

Unfortunately I am not familar with TGRs available in the UK and I know Cambistat is only sold in the states. You may be able to find a product called "Cultar" over there but it doesn't have many rates for ornamental trees established.

I've just realised that the info I found about Cambistat came from your company. It's a small tree world eh!

Actually I'm wrong, it was Rainbow tree care. it's too warm in my office I think.

You're right, Cambistat is our product. That's why I could say confidently that it is not available in the UK;) It's also why I've heard of Cultar because we get requests from people all over the UK wanting to buy Cambistat as a substitute.

I think I'm going to have to ask them for more info. I'm not a big fan of any chemical treatments for trees to be honest, although I do have chem app certification myself. However, i just have to judge whether its in the best interests of the tree and if I can't find any info other than trials on flippin grass banks, I'm going to struggle.

Seriously? There are tons of trials on TGR's. Check them out.
