Fishercat stopped by my job site today (removing 1 maple and 1 sassafras from the Wethersfield storm) and we finally got to meet in person, we have been going back and forth on the phones with work for each other but never met. Kind of cool finally meeting someone from here. I dropped the ball and didnt take a pic while he was there. He is a good looking bastard, not nearly as handsome as me (may have been the husky hat he had on), also fellow member of the Xlarge climbers club, .

I am one good looking fella. That sexy hat does say STIHL on the front. By the way the helmet just came off for last few cuts, nothing over head any more and I was sweating too bad.

Hey, one day I asked where in VA Masiman was from. PM'd back and forth a bit before finding out his oldest son is in the same grade as my oldest daughter at the same school, second son is same grade as my second daughter, his third son and my third daughter start kindergarten together next year. So we met up and went to the GTG in WV together a couple weeks ago. Still waiting to do a job with him and see how our climbing styles differ. Hope to meet some more people from the site in person. You have to share at least some some of the same traits if you're both on the site very often.

it was a pleasure.

i'm better looking when i shave but i i don't so others can feel better about themselves.

i have a Stihl hat too. i'll wear it for ya sometime.

I actually own some Stihls but they don't scare small children and liberals like the Huskies do.

we'll meet up again soon i'm sure.i'd have rather been cuttin' with you guys than giving out estimates.i went by that job,no one was home.homeowner must have been working on it.the bow saw was laying on the log,he must have went to rest his arm.

Well if your looking for wood and maybe a chance to make a few bucks on the ground. If you drive around town and make an effort there is still tons of work all over. I am sure you can find more then one spot for good wood and to make a couple bucks doing cleanup. If you do tree work there is still work there but there is also quite a few crews in town.

Im the best looking tree man there ever was, and my hat says husky on it.

I wouldn't worry about what the hat says, how about the fact that he's wearing one, NOT a helmet!? Real Professional, Nice!

Wow...Right Stihl, you're such a hack for not wearing a helmet. I mean, c'mon. It's not like it was the last cut of the day, and the sweat was in your eyes. That B.S. don't fly anymore. Admit it, you cut that sucker for $200...

HAHAHA I'm so happy that it IS possible to discern tone over the net. lol

Have a blessed day everyone,

Jeff

P.S. Stihl, please, no more helmet removal for the photos, it's kinda, ummm...what's the word..."unprofessional" lmao

It was two removals and made well over $200. I know the golden rule is helmet whenever you climb, but I will tell you the gods honest truth I only wear one when there is a concern of over head debris. At the point the pic was taken there was nothing left except trunk and if that hit me in the head, helmet or no helmet it wouldnt have mattered. I guy I learned to climb from was very old school and it was hard enough putting up with the abuse when I really needed a helmet never mind when it was just a safety precaution.

I know you are new at this and realy dont have a clue what you are doing yet but, I had just finished climbing and limbing two trees and I was drenched. I was also taking my 361 with a 20'' bar back in the tree with me and opted for the hat which works great for absorbing sweat. Reason being I thought it would be rather good to see what I was doing.

When you get finished learning how to climb then you can judge me, until then shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I mean serously you were asking for help for a basic removal.:newbie::stupid:

Lol I purposely threw the comment about tone in hoping that you would read it and know I was being sarcastic. I personally thought it was funny that the guy was basically calling you unprofessional because of exactly the reason you weren't wearing a helmet. I actually read that you were dripping with sweat, that's why I tossed that one in there too. lol Sometimes I really hate the internet for tone, it sucks.

Personally, I thank you for not getting nuts about my post, you could have easily. I hope now you can re-read it and see I was being totally sarcastic and meant only to jest.

Jeff

Maybe if you would take two minutes to actually read the post but whatever.

This is the part you obviously missed

By the way the helmet just came off for last few cuts, nothing over head any more and I was sweating too bad.

You may look at it as unprofessional but the fact is that it was the last section of the trunk I was dropping. I had just finished limbing two trees and I was dripping. I had to go back up on the trunk with the 361 and a 20" bar. My feeling at that point was with nothing left over head other then the last section of trunk (due to the size having a helmet would have just meant they would have to pick plastic out of my dead skull if it hit me.) I opted for the sweat not running in my eyes so I could see what I was doing and finish the job. But I must also add, my helmet also says Stihl in the same spot, and I am sexy in that too.

Oh yeah Garden it was well over $200, it was a fair price for the HO who was a friend but I still made a fair amount. I would be willing to bet that if the price was quoted out, I may have been undercut. But even though it was a friend I dont do this work for less then its really worth. Especially since I am so crazy and risking my life without a helmet for 1 or 2 cuts. I may be unprofesional but I get paid like a pro.

Hmmmm...I dunno, maybe it's just me. I still read it as if Logger was giving you flack for not wearing a helmet.

I had read in a post, I think in a different thread about the sweat in your eyes, that's why I initially made the comment about it. I also could see in the pictures that clearly there wasn't much over your head that would catch you, again, like you stated, the reason for no helmet.

I tossed the little bit in about the $200 cuz I thought that would be a shamefully low price for someone of your obvious skill level. <---no sarcasm.

I thought you would have noticed, but I probably made it too subtle. Again, I apologize. From now on, I will point out when/if I'm being sarcastic.

My deepest apologies,

Jeff
