Had a job couple weeks ago for a customer I've worked for many times,to the point I'd call him a freind too.We were taking down a big silver maple and his neighbor came by to watch, who happens to be Philadelphia Flyers goalie Rob Esche.I'm not a big hockey fan but I was def impressed,he's a very nice guy, wanted to help out and was pulling brush, moving blocks we all hung out after I got it down, had a cpl beers  and shot the sht for a while,a very real, personable guy nice to see a young local guy who made it big and hasn't let it go to his head,He told me damn good job,you looked good up there, how did you get into climbing trees?I told him well I had to do something and I can't skate sooooo........lol

Cool story. I have a lot of respect for folks who are financially successful but still willing to get dirty and work.

I had a similar encounter with a former NY Mets pitcher but it wasn't tree work. I built some custom furniture for him. Super nice guy and helped me install it.

I have a customer that I do work for who is a retired engineer, and is worth many millions..Everytime I go work for him,he'll come out with his chainsaw and help us all day long..The first time he did this,I hated it because he was helping us do what he was paying us for...He said "Don't worry about it,I love working outside."

Tree care owners/operators whom are millionaires are not afraid to get dirty and drag brush. You have to earn respect from your bottom line brush draggers too.

I've had millionaires dragging brush before, running ropes, etc. The tough one is the Italian American Princesses, or the Jewish American Princesses. One millionaire had a billionaire buddy whom I wanted to get on a tree job with us... but that didn't happen. The billionaire's wife will get dirty though no problems... she's a landscraper actually.

millionaires work but I just wish they paid better as a lot
of them want you to do it for next to nothing and are price gurus.
I guess thats how they got rich by always bargaining for best price.
I guess I am close to that status in property but a millionaire is not
as big as it used to be. If I had a million in the bank plus property now
that would be different. It seems fair to pay more if you are wealthy
to get quality help for whatever you have to do. We all know good
help is not cheap I don't respect people who do not value their time
and will work for peanuts a circus animal will do that.

Always good to hear of someone who is well off helping out the regular folks, they are few and far between. I have a regular customer who owns multiple properties of large 100 acre lots and him and his family always down to earth and willing to get dirty. If you saw him walking on the street you would think just a regular guy and he likes it that way. To bad there were not more like this out there.

I did a pad cut and pier drilling project for one of the founders of 3Com. He and his nephew with a couple of laborers did all of the shoveling and grunt work on the job. It took about three weeks for the whole project on a house add on /remodel. When he was a teen, he ran a back fill dozer for coal strip mines, for a summer job,

I know tree guys that are barely afloat and wouldn't give you the time of day. People are people they could be loaded or flat broke but if they want to be a prick they'll be one.

Although I must say I've never had a millionaire work while I was at the job.

Most of the guys around here who have money are driving 10 to 15 year old trucks and wearing overalls. Mostly nice people. I've gotten to the point where I assume they're well off unless they're under 30 or wearing a uniform.

Did I see Dillon Tree today in Dedham

> I was on my way to work today on Needham st in Dedham, and I saw a Diltree bucket and ford chip truck (I think) something about working for the city of boston on the side of the truck? Am I off my rocker or did I see you>Another thing, please dont tell me you guys are doing the liontailning on the VFW parkway red oaks? I have noticed a lot of fresh cuts on my way back from work lately...

I have a customer who has a net worth of over $2.7 billion (yes, billion not million) and he has pulled brush, raked and been my rope man when I worked on some of his properties.

You are not off your rocker, you did see a few of our rigs out there

As for the pruning on VFW...thats not our work, we are doing strictly removals in that area, and I believe the VFW work is a DCR Job, performed by an unnamed contractor
