Anybody work for currently or in the past for Hartney-Greymont? (out of Boston, well Needham actually)
Just been offered a job with this company and it seems like an excellent company, just looking for other opinions, or advice.
Thanks

I know a few guys out of the Needham office. ALL of them are very happy. They do a ot of plantings and PHC. Very well put together co.

When at UMASS I took a class taught by the CEO (Mark Tobin). I really enjoyed that class, not sure how the guy would be to work for.. but he really made the class interesting. We took a field trip or two to his office and a few of his accounts. The needham office is really nice, and some of the accounts are AMAZING. Pretty sure they focus on pruning, planting, and PHC. Not gonna do many big removals at that place I can guarantee it.

Great Company, even better territory

Lots of pruning, PHC, etc., on large estates, and multimillion dollar properties. Good guys, great opportunities to advance. Good luck! (hope you're planning on getting your MCA!!!)

THanks for the feedback

Not really looking to do huge removals myself anyway, but its good to hear they do lots of high end work. Mark Tobin seemed like a nice guy I met him the other day, I was told he was a wealth of knowledge in the arb field. I dont htink they even own a bucket for big removals, fine by me. Anybody give me an idea of good starting wage for someone w/ 1 year climbing experience and a BT in plant science, in the beantown area. I have no idea what I am worth in that area, at home (maine) I was making 20 climbing and 12 ground, but thats in maine, we just got electricity up there.:hmm3grin2orange:

They have at LEAST 3 bucket trucks, 1 75 footer with elevator, 2 forestry units, and not sure what else. Just remember that's what was sitting at the yard that day. One thing I do remember was you really need a CDL at that company, because except for a few small trucks and SUV's all their vehicles require CDL's. Plus they have a "log truck" a big Mack with a few different hook lift bodies including a grapple / dump body. Then there are also a few knuckleboom trucks for doing planting or whatever else.

I wouldn't expect more than 18-20 to start, even that is pushing it. That place has plenty of good climbers so you'd better be great to get more than that. Another thing, alot of people come from upstste NY or Maine or NH and get totally shocked at the cost of living here. Do your homework.
